Fire Protection Career Development Courses (CDCs) prior to IFSAC

These older CDCs were based upon attaining Air Force skill levels (such as apprentice, journeymen, & craftsmen) and were comprehensive in nature.  Meaning that unlike the new CDCs, which are based upon the many different national certifications, these CDCs just had one course containing several volumes that were completed in succession.  At the end of the course the student would take a proctored comprehensive exam covering all portions of the course.  Another difference between the old and new CDCs is that these older CDCs contained all of the study material in the course volumes.  The new versions are, for the most part, formatted as volumes of outlines and objectives which must be studied using additional publications such as national fire codes, reference books, and videos.
